Andrew Miley and John Koumoukelis, two of Hydroflux’s founders, continue the hunt for the latest wastewater technologies and solutions that Australian businesses and municipalities will need in the coming years and report on trending technologies, whilst hinting at some interesting finds
Arriving at IFAT just before opening time on day 2 despite having to wait for 3 trains from München Hauptbahnhof due to the massive numbers of visitors and exhibitors taking advantage of the convenient public transport we managed to cover far more ground today, mainly due to the fact that the HUBER stand occupied a substantial portion of Hall 2. Did we tell you the HUBER stand was big…?
Trending Technologies:
John Koumoukelis reports in from day two:
“One of the key trends that we have seen across the entire IFAT exhibition is the drive for energy efficiency in the treatment of wastewater and protection of the associated networks. For example, HUBER have extended their sludge dewatering screw press range, which uses 10% of the energy demand when compared to high speed centrifuges, to use IE4 Energy Efficient drives. A recent EU protocol has dictated the use of IE3 drives by 2017 but once again our partners HUBER have led the industry in achieving outstanding energy efficiency through innovative technology design to better these directives and deliver outstanding energy savings to end users.”
And from Andrew Miley:

Another rising wastewater treatment process unit that appears to be well represented are tertiary filters. Some very interesting new designs from around the globe but it does raise the question, aren’t tertiary filters used when the biological system cannot meet the suspended solids discharge requirements? I don’t think Hydroflux’s deigns have that issue!”
Hydroflux have made contact with several companies which will result in, well let’s say for the moment, some great advances for Australian businesses and the way they treat their wastewater. We will keep you informed on our progress.
Lastly Hydroflux seem to have managed to convince people that eating pork knuckles every day is not good for you, so off pizza tonight!
