Grit slurry produced from vortex or longitudinal traps contains fine sand particles that are coated with an organic layer. A thorough washing mechanism is required to remove this layer, which will result in an almost organic free discharge with 90%DS.
HUBER has now installed Advanced Grit Washing Plants in Sydney Water, Melbourne Water, SA Water and Water Corp plants, at their major treatment plants. The machines are producing grit at 90%DS, which significantly reduces offsite disposal costs, provides an option for reuse and minimises truck movements in busy suburban areas.
The operating principle of the unit only uses the inclined discharge screw when required, reducing operating and maintenance costs.
Furthermore, carbon is returned to the wastewater stream and the final product is free of vermin and odour.
A number of sizes are available, to cater for a variety of plant throughputs. Construction is entirely in stainless steel and to the highest quality.
