The Picton STP operated by Sydney Water is undergoing a major upgrade by RCR O’Donnell Griffin Pty Ltd to increase its capacity from 2.7 to 4MLD.
As part of the project upgrade, two new Intermittently Decant Aerated Lagoons (IDAL) shall be constructed to increase capacity and insure that tight environmental discharge standards are met.
“Aeration in bio-reactors is the single highest energy consumer in wastewater treatment. Our world leading AEROSTRIP® Diffuser produces ultra-fine bubbles, which are defined as a 1mm bubble size.
This leads to huge increase in energy efficiency, as mass transfer is increased and the associated air demand is reduced. Normal fine bubble diffusers are typically 2 – 3mm bubble size.
We are seeing more and more Australian clients switching to AEROSTRIP® Diffuser due to their efficiency and long 12-year membrane life” says Luis Bastos, Director of Hydroflux HUBER Pty Ltd.
AEROSTRIP® is an ultra-fine bubble diffuser that uses a unique micro-perforated polyurethane membrane. It provides oxygen in both continuous and intermittent biological processes used in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.
