Repeat Order from Stornoway for QPRESS® Rotary Sludge Screw Press

Stornoway are a leader in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities around Australia for both the private and municipal market.

After the successful commissioning a new centralised sludge facility in outback Western Australia using a Hydroflux HUBER Rotary Screw Press, a second system has been ordered for a similar facility that Stornoway is providing to a major Western Australian iron ore producer.

Sludge Dewatering Screw Press Hydroflux Huber Stornoway

“The HUBER QPRESS is a slow speed rotary screw press. These installations are in remote locations, so reliability and excellent volume reductions are critical. To facilitate site commissioning the system was fully workshop tested to simulate operation and faults.

Based on the success of the first system, a second system comprising of a HUBER QPRESS, Control Panel, Conveyor and Polymer Dosing Unit is being delivered.

We are seeing a steep increase in the use of our HUBER QPRESS over other sludge dewatering technologies, particularly centrifuges. The main reason is that QPRESS uses 90% less energy than centrifuges with the same volume reduction, and with a maximum top speed of 1RPM, you can be assured that maintenance is very simple” says John Koumoukelis of Hydroflux HUBER.

The HUBER QPRESS is a sludge dewatering system. It dewaters biomass produced from sewage treatment plants to form a dry cake. The excellent volume reduction means less truck movements offsite, and hence, a reduction in capital costs.
