The Luggage Pt Sewage Treatment Plant operated by Queensland Urban Utilities located in Brisbane is one of Australia’s largest wastewater treatment facilities. As part of a current upgrade at the site by Aquatec Maxcon, Hydroflux are supplying advanced HUBER Rotary Screw technology to manage primary sludge volumes into the existing digestion facility, which in turn is used to produce biogas followed by electricity in a co-generation facility.
“We are excited to be part of this project and yet another QUU site. The HUBER Screw Press technology provides very high thickening degrees, which means better utilisation of digester volume which leads to higher gas yields and ultimately, electricity.
Our technology uses slow speed internals, less than 5rpm, which results in lower operating and energy demand. As with all HUBER equipment, the system is fully enclosed and fabricated to the highest German standards in stainless steel” says John Koumoukelis, Director of Hydroflux Pty Ltd
The HUBER RoS2 screw press is a mechanical sludge processing system used for thickening of sewage and industrial sludge, prior to digestion and/or dewatering. Its unique design achieves significantly higher performance than other conventional designs, and is particularly advantageous when used upstream of digestion processes, to better utilise digester capacity.
