Modular Packaged Inlet Works System for Pt Lookout STP

Downer Utilities have been awarded a significant contract for the design build of the Pt Lookout STP for Redland Water, on the picturesque Nth Stradbroke Is. As part of that project, Hydroflux HUBER have been engaged to design and supply a packaged inlet works system.

The packaged system comprises of high capture HyBAND centre flow band screens, vortex grit removal and the associated residual solids handling.

To facilitate site installation all equipment will be housed in individual stainless steel tanks. Hydroflux’s scope includes all the interconnecting pipework, bypass screens and splitters boxes.

“This project is unique as the site is located on an island. The equipment will be housed in several free standing stainless steel tanks, doing away with costly concrete channels. This allows a modular design that can be tested offsite.

All the equipment being supplied is sole sourced from Hydroflux HUBER, meaning that clients are assured of seamless integration of their inlet works packages. The entire system has been modelled using 3D SolidWorks to assist in safety in design and optimisation of the piping and mechanical layout” says John Carroll of Hydroflux HUBER.

Hydroflux offer a full range of inlet works equipment to protect sewage treatment plants from solids accumulation. Engineering assistance available includes advice on channel construction, dimensions, sizing and hydraulics.

For this project, HyBAND Centre Flows were selected as the screening process due to its high capture rate and associated reduction in downstream maintenance costs. Grit removal is achieved in a vortex grit removal chamber which provides efficient removal of fine sand particles. All solids removed are washed and compacted to minimise offsite disposal costs.
